Ingredients

1 cup plus 2 tablespoons butter, softened, divided2 cups packed brown sugar2 large eggs4 teaspoons vanilla extract, divided3 cups quick-cooking oats2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour1-1/2 teaspoons salt, divided1 teaspoon baking soda1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk2 cups semisweet chocolate chips1 cup chopped walnuts

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, beat 1 cup butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy, 5-7 minutes. Beat in eggs and 2 teaspoons vanilla. Combine oats, flour, 1 teaspoon salt and baking soda; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well. Press two-thirds of oat mixture into a greased 15x10x1-in. baking pan.

In a large saucepan, combine milk, chocolate chips, remaining 2 tablespoons butter and remaining 1/2 teaspoon. Cook and stir over low heat until chocolate is melted. Remove from the heat; stir in walnuts and remaining 2 teaspoons vanilla. Spread over crust. Sprinkle with remaining oat mixture.

Bake until golden brown, 20-25 minutes. Cool on a wire rack. Cut into squares.
