Ingredients

1/2 cup whole wheat flour1/2 cup all-purpose flour1/2 cup sugar1-1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon1-1/4 teaspoons baking powder1/4 teaspoon baking soda1 large egg, room temperature, beaten1/3 cup canola oil1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce1/4 cup honey1 cup chopped walnutsICING:1 cup confectioners’ sugar2 tablespoons butter, melted1 teaspoon vanilla extract1 tablespoon water2 tablespoons honey

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, combine flours, sugar, cinnamon, baking powder and baking soda. In another bowl, combine egg, oil, applesauce and honey. Stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. Fold in walnuts.

Spread batter into a 13x9-in. baking pan coated with cooking spray. Bake 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Combine icing ingredients; spread over warm bars. Cool completely before cutting into bars.
