Theme Song. America’s Test Kitchen features a plucky instrumental with the voiceover announcing, “America’s Test Kitchen!” and introducing us to all our favorite folks: Christopher Kimball, Julia Collin Davison, etc. It’s a little dorky, but it works. Cook’s Country TV has an actual theme song! It’s “Right Between Your Eyes” by the band Hot Buttered Rum and has actual lyrics!Live Audiences. Christopher Kimball performs his taste tests in front of a live audience, which makes his interactions with Jack Bishop even funnier. The October 6 episode had Kimball testing jarred pasta sauces and watching the live audience respond to Kimball’s disdain for them was pretty hilarious.Forgotten Recipes. Cook’s Country TV devotes shows to nearly-extinct dishes like Poke Cake(e-mail registration required to view recipe). There’s an interesting combo of recipe and history here. I only hope my arteries can handle all the rich deliciousness I want to try!The Setting. Instead of the hustle-and-bustle environment of America’s Test Kitchen, the set for CCTV is a farmhouse in Rupert, Vermont.
